A lovely villa in the best location on the island!

My friends and I just returned from an absolutely perfect vacation at Villa Camilla. We have all traveled throughout the Caribbean and rent a villa every December. This was definitely a great find - we unanimously agreed that a return visit is a MUST! The villa was just as lovely as the pictures on the web site. It was very comfortable with a charming tropical feel. It is well planned out to take advantage of the beauty of the island. The location was great. The view from the upper deck simply could not be beat. Grace Bay is one of the best in the Caribbean - we had that as well as a great pool and tropical gardens! When we weren't enjoying a relaxing evening on the deck, our favorites for drinks and dining were the Sharkbite, the Tiki Hut, and Somewhere (right next door). We also had drinks at Da Conch Shack and Las Brisas. We were well taken care of by Sharon and Charlene. We had the pleasure of meeting Beth and Larry, our gracious hosts, on our last day. We are eagerly looking forward to our return visit! Rating: 5/5

Best Spot on the Island

My friends and I went to Provo for the first time for a girls weekend/birthday getaway. Three of us stayed in the main house of Villa Camilla and two stayed in one of the guest houses. The location was perfect - right between Coral Gardens and The Beach House with quick access to the beach (we used the beach chairs at The Beach House in exchange for buying drinks and tipping the staff). We took advantage of our own private pool as well. The house had everything we needed including a mid-week full cleaning by the housekeepers. Everything was clean, secure and very comfortable. Charlene, our hostess, was attentive and helped us map out where to eat and visit during our stay. Villa Camilla is within walking distance of the Children's Park where the Thursday night fish fry happens - highly recommend attending! Cabs are somewhat spendy so we rented a car from Grace Bay Car Rentals and they delivered the car right to our house. Having a house was a great way to save a little on the expense of eating out. We hit the IGA for groceries and made the rum punch recipe sent to us by the Villa Camilla owners which took care of our food/drinks for the day time and we visited a few of the local spots for dinner (Da Conch Shack, Somewhere, Mango Reef, Tiki Hut). All in all our stay exceeded our expectations and I would return to Villa Camilla in a heartbeat. Rating: 5/5

Well Appointed House with Great Beach-Front Location and Plenty of Privacy

Our party of 5 adults and 1 child (10 years old) stayed at the Villa Camilla main house the week of July 21st. We found the house to be well-suited for our vacation needs. All agreed it was an excellent choice and we would highly recommend it. The 3 bedrooms are ideal for a group of 6; each has plenty of space, dedicated air conditioning, and an en suite bathroom. The second story living area is also quite spacious and includes a well-equipped kitchen. It benefits from a large screened opening in the front of the house which creates continuous natural air flow. Even in late July there was no need for air conditioning and the feeling was one of being outdoors. Of course the views were also amazing. Outside, the large landscaped property provided much privacy and minimal noise from the area resorts and road. Since it was July we spent most of our days lounging in the pool area where there was plenty of shade and we used the pool. The patio area provides for a lovely setting as it is surrounded by beautiful tropical flowers, palm trees and shrubs. We even had excellent wifi internet access from the patio area as well as throughout the house. The owners obviously take great care in maintaining the property; during our stay someone came by every day to check/clean the pool and tend to the landscaping. The owner also provided maid service midweek. While we would have preferred to be directly on the beach, it is only a short walk away. The property's location between one major resort (Coral Gardens) and a smaller boutique hotel (The Beach House) left a sizable stretch of the beach for our private use, although there is an adjacent area with public access nearby. Another advantage of the house's location is the short walk to two great reef locations for snorkeling (one in front of Coral Gardens, the other in front of Aquamarine Beach House). Car rental is a must for grocery shopping and getting to restaurants in the Grace Bay Road area or beyond. Rating: 5/5

Beautiful Villa .. Beautiful Island!

We LOVED Villa Camilla and TURKS! Had a great time. After getting over the shock of the cost of my bag of coffee ($25) and some other things, we settled in and had a very relaxing, restful time. (Smile) That was our goal ... and I think our sons even enjoyed the low-key atmosphere. I loved being at the house and just opening up the doors in the evenings and hanging out. Very comfortable. Enjoyed cooking and grilling for a few of our dinners. We tended to go to the beach in the mornings and then return in the afternoons to the pool to just rest in the shade a bit... made it a bit more island like and rustic! Thank you so much for sharing your home. It's lovely and just a very relaxing place! Rating: 5/5

A Perfect Week at Villa Camilla

We had a wonderful time and either a grebe or juvenile heron visited us at the pool. I especially loved being in what felt like a tree house within a tropical botanical garden. Arriving was magical - coming in through a canopied tunnel. We actually didn't leave except for a promised ice cream treat for the children. Everyone ... was so kind and helpful and we felt well cared for between being met on our arrival and the goodbye. Lucy, the five year old, was invited to stay many times. With the children, having the pool and the beach in walking distance was perfect. The house has everything one could need with many separate areas for just looking out at the amazing view. We walked down the beach to restaurants. We are definitely headed back. Rating: 5/5

Babymooners

My husband and I just spent an exquisite week at Villa Camilla celebrating our babymoon. The house is stunning - particularly its gorgeous vistas of Grace Bay, amazing tropical gardens, proximity to the beach, incredible private pool (a true oasis!), spacious layout, fresh breezes, and sense of privacy. Upon arrival at the Provo airport, the house manager met us and oriented us to the island and home, which was pristine and well-stocked with towels and kitchen essentials. We thoroughly enjoyed sunsets on the deck (as well as the house-recommended recipe for rum punch (rum-free for me!!)). For those who like to cook, we recommend the grill on the spacious deck. The nearest supermarket is about a five minute drive from Villa Camilla, making it quite convenient to stock up on food and drink! Though somewhat limited in activity levels due to pregnancy, while in Provo, we enjoyed long walks along and swims in Grace Bay and the Villa Camilla pool, a trek to Malcolm Beach and the North Point National Park, a trip to Bugaloo's in Five Cays, the Concha Wonka tour (including Conch Farm, Cultural Center, and Conch Shack), and a lovely snorkel cruise aboard the Atabeyra. We also enjoyed outstanding cuisine; among our favorites: Hemingway's, the Sunday night beach barbeque at the Seven Stars resort, the Tiki Hut, Somewhere, the Beach House, and Magnolia (phenomenal!!). For afternoon drinks (non-alcoholic for me!), we enjoyed Somewhere, the bar at the Gansevoort (ask for Desmond), and the Villa Camilla deck. We loved our time at this beautiful home and on this special island, and only wish we had been able to stay longer. We look forward to returning in the not-too-distant future with our little one in tow!! Cannot recommend highly enough - magnificent in all respects. Villa Camilla is a true gem! Rating: 5/5

What a fantastic and painless vacation

What a fantastic and painless vacation - no fuss, no worries. Having a private pool was such a gift - best snorkeling on island steps away from back door - then into the pool for more relaxation. We were met at the airport by rental car service and house manager, Charlene, that took us directly to the house. Everything we needed was in the house. Every room has a deck. Morning coffee and afternoon happy hours were serene and lovely from the main deck. Wonderful restaurants 2 min walk on the beach from the house. The privacy and grounds of the home are splendid and well kept. We will definitely return to this rental! Our party of 4- all of whom are well traveled, greatly appreciated this vacation home. Beautiful property with a great view and beach 2 minutes away

Our family spent a week in August at Villa Camilla and it was splendid. We arrived late at night but were greeted by cheerful and welcoming Charlene. We drove to the Villa and were impressed with the layout. Although my wife was recuperating from surgery, we were able to enjoy ourselves throughout the week. Charlene was very helpful in suggesting fun local excursions that our family could enjoy. The pool and short walk to the beach were enough to keep us occupied. Our daughter loved it since we were able to snorkel in water so clear with beautiful fish. Having a kitchen was wonderful as we used it often and ate on the balcony admiring the beautiful view...Beth was very responsive to our questions and needs. She was a pleasure to communicate with as we planned our trip to make sure we enjoyed our time at Villa Camilla. We met several friendly locals!!! We'll definitely visit again :-) Rating: 5/5

Villa Camilla Feb 2012

Just got home from a week at Villa Camilla....it was great! There were 6 of us, 3 couples.. we all had plenty of privacy. The house and gardens were beautiful. The pool was fantastic & used often! The house was clean & well kept. The short trail to the beach was no problem. In fact it was nice that people couldn't see in the house. John and Laura were great. We were 3hrs late getting in.. & Laura was at the airport smiling & got us to the Villa. Beth made the rental process very easy, & answered all my sometimes silly questions! Thank you all! Loved it and will recommend it !! Rating: 5/5

Simply, Wonderfully Perfect House on the Best Beach in the Islands!

Our family spent a wonderful week here last August, and I cannot say enough good things about Villa Camilla. The pictures and descriptions are spot-on accurate -- no surprises except delightful ones. Once you turn into the drive, you know you're in for something special. The house is truly unique, with views to die for! The upside-down layout of the house makes sense for familes or for couples vacationing together -- all the bedrooms are ensuite with wonderful privacy. Upstairs color abounds, and there's lots of room to do nothing at all! The kitchen is very well kitted out, which makes cooking a joy rather than a chore. The pool was a surprise as we were the first guests to be able to enjoy it -- perfect. A short, easy walk takes you right to your own stretch of the beach, and just a short walk down the beach are the best fish tacos I have ever had, right on the water. Great snorkelling is right in front of you. Perfection for anyone seeking a private, authentic vacation in paradise -- look no further. You do need a car to get around -- taxis are an expensive proposition! If you've read this far -- here's a fun fact: this rave comes from a family that rode out Hurricane Irene in the house... and still can't wait to go back! The owners could not have been more supportive during our stay, especially during the 'exciting' hurricane part. Rating: 5/5

A Little Bit of Paradise!!!

Just returned from a bit of a dream. We wanted to snorkel 2-3 times a day right from the beach in front of us. No driving, no boarding a boat with 20-30 other people, just a saunter down to the beach with whomever in our group of 3 couples were so inclined at the moment and go in. 8 AM ...no problem. 6 PM no problem. Whenever. And we found the perfect location and villa, right down the beach from the Coral Gardens Reef. Our first contact was with Beth, one of the owners along with her husband Larry. She answered our questions in a most timely manner, usually the same day. When we arrived at the airport, we were met by the property manager, John, who helped with the paperwork for the van we had reserved and led the way to the villa, taking 2 of us with him and pointing out the important places... the banks, grocery store, the wine outlet. He gave us an orientation of the villa, the security system, and checked in with us several times in the following days. The villa has gorgeous views from the decks and the living room, the kitchen is well-equipped. Each of 3 couples had a bedroom with an outside sitting area and an ensuite bathroom. A/C was available if desired. The property sits on 6 acres with lush gardens and is oceanfront. Put your bathing suit on, leave sunglasses and towel in the villa, carry the snorkel gear to the beach--- and spectacular that is-- suit up and go in. The reef is right there, and when we were done, we got a kick out of being able '"to snorkel home!." We saw rays, turtles, angelfish... each day something different. We could get up early, and without disturbing anyone, exit onto our private bedroom deck, walk to the beach, and jump in for an early morning swim. During the course of our week there, we had the pleasure of meeting Beth and Larry, who stayed in the guesthouse on the property, and had arrived to supervise the construction of the new swimming pool. What a week it was! What a location! Privacy, beautiful sunsets, wine and meals on the balcony....and snorkeling home!!! Rating: 5/5

This property is WONDERFUL.

Our family of five stayed there for 10 days and enjoyed every minute. It was gorgeous, well-located, and perfect for a family vacation. Villa Camilla is tops in all of my three big criteria: Loveliness, location, and functionality. First, loveliness: The house is so unique, so adapted to its locale! The entire back side is screened, a huge rose window open to the breeze. The only enclosed spaces in the house are the three bedrooms and their ensuite bathrooms, all on the ground floor; the living room, dining room, kitchen, and two-story foyer are open to this screened back. The front of the house, meanwhile, has an enormous round window looking out to the beach, and views all around and from the two spectacular decks. Every member of my family literally GASPED when they came up those spiral stairs and looked out that big round window. Can such turquoise water, such white sand even exist??? The unique layout of the house led to constant gentle breezes through the house, such that we almost never used air conditioning. The house is decorated in a relaxed, comfortable style well-suited to family life. It is tasteful, with original art and conch shells holding open the door screens, but in a low-key style - just basic finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms, no marble or granite. The bright colors are well matched to the vivid colors of the landscape outside. Second, location: Villa Camilla is on Grace Bay, where everything is, but on a quieter stretch with very few people on the beach in front of the house. It's set a little back from the beach, behind some grassy dunes - much better than many of the beachfront condos etc. where you can see right into the living rooms. A few minutes to the right is Coral Gardens reef, with fantastic snorkeling. A max. ten-minute drive will bring you to all the good restaurants, or a walk next door to a Mexican beach cafe.... The house itself is on a large 6-acre parcel with beautiful landscaping - this means lots of privacy, with nothing but the occasional glimpse of the guesthouse occupants. Last, functionality: The house had everything a family needs.... The local managers, John and Laura, were lovely - available, helpful, knowledgeable. The owner, as well, was lovely - easy to work with, flexible, reasonable. Rating: 5/5

Exceeded our expectations

Unique home on naturally landscaped grounds about 200 yards through dunes to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world with good snorkeling. You are basically staying at one of the last undeveloped resort properties on Grace Bay. Walking distance to many of the resorts but you'll need to rent a car to take full advantage of what the island has to offer. 3 bedrooms each with their own private bath perfect for 3 couples or family with older kids who value independence and don't want a "packaged, all inclusive" holiday. Our hosts (John and Laura), met us at the airport and helped us through the week. They immediately made us feel at home and recommended local restaurants, snorkeling sites and arranged daily excursions. We felt as if we had our own personal concierge. All in all a wonderful property and a great location! Rating: 5/5

Relaxation at its best

Six of us had a wonderful time enjoying this villa with 3 private bedrooms and baths, and its beautiful tropical surroundings. The best part was the setting is very private with wandering path (2 minutes) to an excellent beach with relatively few tourists. Villa is along Grace Bay within walking distance along the beach or a short drive to restaurants and other hotels and amenities. If you are looking for relaxation and seclusion, this is a great place on a beautiful island. Laura and John met us at the airport and accommodated all our needs with a gracious smile. Enjoy! The Best Kept Secret on Provo

My family and I are sophisticated Caribbean/island travelers (Cap Juluca-Anguilla), Caneel Bay (St.John USVI), Hotel Marquesa (Key West), Elbow Beach (Bermuda), etc.). We have visited Provo six times in the last eight years and Villa Camilla is the only place for us in T&C. The Villa exudes understated elegance - I have always thought that crystal chandeliers have no place at the beach - and the views from the living room and sunset deck are to die for! Five acres of native flora around you,and the beach in front of VC is all yours - seriously there will be no one at your elbow, or anywhere near your elbow. The two-ply jade and turquoise water will dumbfound you the first time you see it. You can stand in water up to your shoulders and still see your feet. Beth and Larry are gracious, lovely people with a true passion for Provo and Villa Camilla. Do yourself and your family a big favor, come to Villa Camilla, live in a home with an intimate, very private feel that cannot be matched by the most opulent, cookie cutter condo or noisy, crowded resort.
